Recently, we assisted Mrs. Anderson, a 72-year-old patient who was discharged from Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital after hip surgery. She lived in a two-story home with a staircase leading to her bedroom and was worried about how she would manage once she got home. Her family was unable to safely carry her upstairs, and she needed professional support. Our trained NEMT team arrived at the hospital and safely transferred her into our wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Upon reaching her home, we used specialized stair assistance equipment and carefully guided her up the stairs. With trained professionals by her side, she felt secure and supported every step of the way. Her family was relieved, knowing she was in safe hands, and Mrs. Anderson was grateful that she could return to her own bedroom without the fear of injury.
